/. recently had a post about a novel new approach to ADIS treatment. The WebMD article has more information. The treatment involves a custom injection using the patient’s own dendritic cells infused with dead AIDS virus. HIV/AIDS hinders the body’s immune system, but these loaded dendritic cells seem immune to the assult and thus show great promise as a treatment. Assuming this route proves out this is a really big thing, but i wonder how practical the approach would be en mass. How much work does it take to create this custom injection? Will it be uber expensive leaving the places in greatest need without? Unfortuantly the article doesn’t quite go into those details, hopefully it will be “cheap and easy.” ™
