Best of Seattle: Pizza

August 30th, 2006

So I picked up a copy of Seattle Weekly the other day, it was the Best of Seattle edition, which I skimmed over and decided there were too many places listed I hadn’t tried. So this post isn’t about me trying any of those places, I haven’t gotten around to that yet, but I’ve deicded to do my own best of list. What I think is the best of Seattle. So if you know me it probably wouldn’t take two guess to get the subject of my first post, pizza.

So Pagliacci always seems to make the top of everyone’s list, it’s not bad and probably belongs there, but where’s the point in listing the same pizza place as everyone else. So here’s the deal, I’ve found a lot of good pizza in Seattle, but nothing that I would call my favorite, which is unfortunate since I love pizza. So I miss Bearnos, if I was doing Best of Lexington or Louisville it would be a clear winner, but alas I’m not.

So pizza in Seattle, depends on what kind of pizza you’re looking for. There’s too damned much New York style pizza, that’s for sure, but I’ll suggest one anyway Pudge Brothers Pizza. If you’re looking for Chicago style I haven’t really found much of it, but Wallingford Pizza House is pretty good, try the dome pizza if you’re in the mood for something different. If you’re in to Neapolitan pizza give Tutta Bella a try. If you’re looking for a cool atomosphere and a decent dinner give Madme K’s a try. Finally I’ll throw in an honorable mention for Olympia Pizza which doesn’t really fit a category, but is generally pretty good.

So now I’ll close with a disclaimer that I’ve by no means tried every pizza place around though I plan to continue in the quest to do so. If i find new places I’ll return to the subject otherwise there’s my thoughts…

A Camping We Will Go

Another photo blog:

Loose transcript of a phone call between Riani and myself around 5:15 Friday afternoon:

me: hello
Riani: what's up
m: nothing much...
r: want to go camping tomorrow
m: sure

Apparently Tashi (Riani’s roomate) had bought a huge (and nice) tent at a yard sale and wanted to try it out. So we headed up north to a campground 15 or so north of Index, WA. The pictures tell the rest of the story.

Ferry To Bremerton

In order to save you from yet another of my meeting minutes style blog post about the most innane details of something I did recently I’ve decided instead to do a photo-blog post. I can’t say that I’ll do them that often, but I’d have to imagine I could manage it more often than I’m apparently doing blog posts. (wow that’s a lot of personal pronouns in a single bound) Click the image to follow the story…
