Layouts

So I decided I wanted to play around with CSS a bit and learn it a bit more in depth. I had done some stuff with it in the past when I created the original (slashdot-ish) version of this site, but that was pretty much a copy-n-paste job and i only half leanred what i was looking at. Well round two returns and there are now 7 layouts available, well 3 layouts 2 of which have 3 color variations. There’s a reworked version of the slashdot theme, still the default. If you’ll notice the site also saves your prefered layout and uses it on your next visit. This is accomplished via a code example on AListApart. I also read several of their other articles. This CSS refereance page came in handy as well. At any rate, check them out.

Google Reader

October 10th, 2005

So I’ve been doing the RSS feed thing for a while now. A long time ago in a far-far away place I was pointed at Sage and really liked it. It was almost everything I wanted in a feed reader. My only major complaint was that I had to keep separate favorite feeds on every browser I wanted to look at feeds with and marking things are read was nearly useless since I would look through them on several systems. Enter Google Reader a web based app that does everything I liked about sage and then some. Most importantly it’s online so there’s one set of feeds and one place they’re marked read or not. Check it out, I’ve been using it quite frequently since its relase a couple of days ago. I suspect quite a few features are yet to come, I can think of several decent ideas to add to it, we’ll have to see what they can come up with and do.
