Before joining NEC Energy Solutions, Steve was CEO of Alpha-En Corporation, a publicly traded New York based clean energy company. Prior to that, he spent four years as a senior executive officer with the Samsung Group as Chief Marketing and Sales Officer of Samsung Engineering. Steve started his career at GE and spent 27 years with the company including five years as a vice president and corporate officer. He led GE’s company-wide Ecomagination environmental business initiative which grew to $18 billion under his leadership. Prior to that, he was responsible for several GE technology-based businesses across Asia, notably as President and CEO of GE Energy China in Beijing. Steve holds a Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Columbia University and a Bachelor of Science degree from Providence College.
Mark Fidler brings 20 years of financial leadership experience, having spent the last 15 years in the alternative energy industry. Mr. Fidler has extensive experience in all aspects of finance and accounting, banking, tax, audit and strategic planning.
Before joining NEC Energy Solutions, Mr. Fidler served as Chief Financial Officer of ReEnergy Holdings LLC, the largest independent owner and operator of biomass-to-energy facilities in North America. Prior to that, Mr. Fidler served as Chief Financial Officer of Ambient Corporation, a leading provider of utility-scale smart grid solutions, and also spent 10 years at Evergreen Solar Inc., a worldwide leading manufacturer of solar panels, first as Corporate Controller and then as Vice President of Finance and Treasurer. Mr. Fidler also held various senior finance roles at The Boston Consulting Group and Hampshire Chemical, and worked in the audit practice of Coopers & Lybrand. Mr. Fidler is a Certified Public Accountant. Mark holds a BS in accounting from Syracuse University and an MBA from Northeastern.
Michael Hoff has over 30 years of experience in electric utilities, uninterruptible power supplies, advanced energy storage, battery systems, communications, manufacturing and construction. He is currently CTO and VP of Research and Technology and directs the research and modeling of advanced energy storage technologies at NEC.
Mr. Hoff was the first member of A123’s Energy Solutions Group, where he helped build the core systems engineering capability for the company before it was acquired by NEC. Before that, Mr. Hoff served 18 years in various roles developing UPS products for American Power Conversion. This experience gave him broad exposure in energy storage technologies, power control, electronic controls and communications, manufacturing processes and the power market. Michael holds a BS in Electrical Engineering and Power from Drexel University, and a MS in Electrical Engineering and Power from Northeastern University.
Rick Cwiakala brings over 20 years of experience in engineering and operations management. Mr. Cwiakala leads Grid Integration and Service for NEC Energy Solutions’ grid energy solutions business, and also leads Platform Engineering and Service for its commercial battery business.
Prior to joining the company, he was Director of Product Quality and Operations for divisions within Schneider Electric’s Critical Power and Cooling Solutions business. Before that, he was Director of Manufacturing at DMC Manufacturing, Inc. Rick also held engineering and operations positions at General Electric and Lockheed Martin, and holds a M.Eng and BS in Industrial Engineering from the University at Buffalo.
Jim Prueitt brings over 30 years of experience in new product development, design and engineering to NEC Energy Solutions and is responsible for all new product development, product design, safety & compliance and product delivery.
Prior to becoming a part of NEC Energy Solutions, Mr. Prueitt was the Vice President of Engineering for A123 Energy Solutions. Before that, he was with MTI MicroFuel Cells, a world-leading developer of hand held power generators based on direct methanol fuel cell technology. Prior to MTI MicroFuel Cells, he was the Vice President of Engineering for Polaroid Corp, a global leader in imaging and digital printing products. In addition to an MBA from University of West Florida, Jim holds a MS and BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Kentucky.
Steve DeBruyn, with close to 25 years of broad leadership experience in industrial operations, brings an understanding of both technical and business issues and how they impact optimization of industrial manufacturing environments. As Vice President of Operations, Steve is responsible for all manufacturing, supply chain, and quality control operations at NEC Energy Solutions.
Prior to joining NEC Energy Solutions, Mr. DeBruyn was Executive Vice President of Manufacturing and Operations at Eppendorf, a major capital equipment manufacturer in the life sciences industry, leading a 300+ person organization and spearheading multiple initiatives that modernized and upgraded their manufacturing and supply chain functions. Steve holds an MBA from UC Berkeley’s Haas School of Business, and a B.S. in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research from the University of Massachusetts.
Deborah Collum brings more than 18 years of domestic and international legal experience in project finance and energy-related projects to her role as VP & General Counsel of NEC Energy Solutions. As General Counsel, Deborah develops both short- and long-term tactics bringing innovative energy storage solutions to the market, along with providing vital counsel to aid in corporate strategic development. Throughout her career Ms. Collum has successfully managed energy performance projects, renewable energy deployments, energy financing initiatives, contract negotiations, mergers and acquisitions and dispute resolution.
Prior to joining NEC Energy Solutions, Ms. Collum provided domestic and international counsel at Ameresco, Inc., served as Vice President and Senior Counsel at MFS Investment Management and as an attorney in the Business Law and Real Estate departments at Sullivan and Worcester in Boston. Deborah holds a JD from The University of Chicago Law School and an AB from Colgate University.
Roger Lin is Vice President of Marketing at NEC Energy Solutions. Developing markets across the globe for grid energy storage solutions and battery systems for commercial and industrial applications, he has over thirteen years of experience in energy storage technologies and applications. He was responsible for several successful development efforts ranging from high power energy storage systems for hybrid buses to lithium ion cell technologies.
Prior to joining NEC, he held roles at A123 Systems, a lithium ion battery startup, YankeeTek Ventures, an early-stage venture capital fund, and business development and materials science R&D at Saint-Gobain. Roger received his Master of Engineering degree in Materials Science from MIT, his Bachelor of Science in Ceramic Engineering from Rutgers University, and is an inventor on ten United States patents.
Prior to joining NEC Energy Solutions, Erik was a VP of Energy Sales at Tesla, responsible for both direct and channel sales in the Americas for PV, PV+Storage and Storage solutions. Before Tesla, Erik spent 8 years at SolarCity, and was promoted from Director to SVP as he grew the business from 20MW in bookings to over 425MW of commercial PV bookings a year. He also lead SolarCity to become one of the leaders in energy storage solutions working with customers to deploy both C&I and Utility scale solutions. Additionally, Erik has held sales and leadership roles at industry leading companies such as SunPower, MMA Renewable Ventures, Network Appliance, USWeb/CKS and Accenture. Erik holds a BA from UCLA in Spanish Literature and Economics.
Jacques Goldenberg brings 25 years of Human Resources international experience in France, South Africa and the US. He worked in different business as IT, aluminum, mining and energy.
Prior to joining NEC Energy Solutions, Jacques spent 7 years within Schneider Electric, firstly as head of HR for the Europe-Middle-Africa Supply Chain organization then as VP HR for the Field Services teams split in 35 countries, where he contributed to set-up the business model and grow it by 10%/year.
Before that, he worked during 14 years for Alcan Rio-Tinto where he kicked-off major projects in South Africa and China and was HR business partner in Aerospace, Beverage Cans and ferro-alloys. Additionally, Jacques built the HR policy of the energy trading company in France and spent his first years with Xerox.
He holds a Masters in Political Science and HR.
